Terms and Conditions
Plain-English terms for how we work. The prices below are the same ones on our pricing page, and if a quote you have been given differs from what is written here, we will honour the quote.
Last updated: 4 October 2026
1. Who we are
These terms apply to work carried out by Zoo Computer Repairs, trading as Fix My Home Computer (Zoo Computer Repairs and Fix My Home Computer together, "we"). We are a one-person business operating across Brisbane, Logan, Ipswich and surrounding suburbs. Contact us on (07) 3155 2051 or hello@fixmyhomecomputer.com.au.
2. What these terms cover
They cover work we do on your computer or related equipment, whether booked as a one-off or as ongoing support. Booking any work means you accept these terms. Where these terms and a written quote conflict, the quote wins.
3. Quotes and pricing
- The standard onsite rate is $150 for the usual job list. Includes GST for home users. Excluding GST for businesses.
- There is no call-out fee. You pay for the visit whether or not we fix anything.
- There is no weekend or public holiday surcharge.
- Work after the first hour is billed in increments of 15 minutes.
- Parts are charged at cost with no mark-up. You are told before any part is fitted.
- Work outside the standard list is quoted before it starts. We will not exceed the quoted price without asking you first.
Prices assume the machine is accessible and the fault is in software or a standard replaceable component. Hardware-level work such as a failed drive, liquid damage or a motherboard fault will be quoted separately and may be uneconomic; we will say so rather than start it.
4. Booking and cancellations
Bookings are available Bookings available 7 days a week, including public holidays. Specific times are agreed by phone or email.
Please give us as much notice as possible if you need to move or cancel. Where a visit has been arranged and we have already turned up, or could not have taken another job because of the short notice, you may be charged for the visit. Insert the cancellation window and any fee once they are agreed.
5. What we need from you
- Access to the machine and a working power outlet at the booked time.
- Any password needed to get at the fault, given to us directly rather than written on a note.
- Your permission before we change settings, install software or remove anything.
- A backup of anything you cannot lose. More on this below.
If we cannot complete the work because we cannot get access, or because the problem turns out to be different from what was described, we still charge for the visit.
6. Your data and backups
Please back up your data before we start. Repair work sometimes involves replacing or reinstalling a drive, and sometimes the fault has already cost you data before we arrive.
We take every reasonable care with your files while they are with us. We do not offer a data recovery guarantee, because the outcome of a recovery attempt depends on the state of the drive rather than on anything we control. If your files are irreplaceable, tell us before we begin and we will discuss the risk.
7. Warranty on repairs
The warranty period for labour is stated on your quote and your invoice. If the same fault returns within that period, the labour to fix it again is free. Parts fitted carry the manufacturer's own warranty, and we will help you claim it.
The warranty does not cover a different fault, damage caused after the work was done, deliberate or accidental changes made by someone else, or equipment that has been dropped, opened or liquid damaged since we attended.
8. Our liability
We are responsible for carrying out the work we agree to do with reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profits or lost data. A liability cap needs adding here and should be reviewed before this page is relied on.
9. Cancellation and refunds
If we cannot attend, or we cannot carry out work we have quoted for, you are not charged. If you have paid in advance and we cannot complete the work, the advance is refunded. For changes of mind after work has been carried out, call us and we will sort it out fairly.
10. This website
Content on this site is general information about computer problems and our services. It is not advice about your particular machine, and no repair is authorised on the basis of something written here. Descriptions of faults are written by whoever reported them to us and are not guaranteed to be technically accurate.
Trade marks mentioned belong to their owners. We repair the brands we service but are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or spokespeople for any of them. Product names are used to describe the work, not to imply a connection.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as our business changes. The date at the top shows when they were last changed, and the terms that applied at the time of your repair are the ones that apply to that repair.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, and the courts of Queensland have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
Something here unclear?
Ask before booking. We would much rather explain a term up front than argue about it afterwards.
